Extensibility
Display and browse digital assets, retrieve related items and search communities and collections and build exhibitions and galleries using your digital assets without having to install and manage complex software. You can even retrieve digital items from multiple archives whether they are your own or others, to create feature-rich mashups of digital repositories.
Open Standards
Only uses open standards such as the Open Archive Initiative (OAI), Dublin Core, Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard (METS) and Search/Retrieve via the Web or URL(SRW/U) to collect, display and search compliant digital asset management systems such as DSpace.

J-CAR is licensed under the Gnu General Public License, so you can modify and customize it to best meet your needs.
What You Get With J-CAR
The J-CAR suite includes a number of components, modules and plugins to help integrate your digital repository with Joomla! smoothly and easily.

- The J-CAR component for displaying an individual record's meta data and assets,
- The J-CAR search plugin (requires either SRW/U or OpenSearch),
- The related subjects module which displays a list of related keywords associated with the record currently displayed,

- The J-SWORD component for depositing meta data and assets from Joomla! into your digital asset management system.
